WEST Somerset Rural Life Museum in Allerford was delighted to receive a large wooden owl carved by Mike Leach, a former pupil at Allerford School, in which the museum is housed.
The owl, given by a village family, makes a large statement as it oversees the Victorian schoolroom.
The museum said it will be an excellent attraction for children and as a photographic centrepiece.
The museum, which will re-open on Monday, April 4, is looking for a secretary to assist the committee.

Allerford School closed in 1981.
Museum trustees (from left) Andrew Stinson, Robin Williams, Patricia Pridmore, Heather Swan and Michael Bainbridge are pictured with the owl.
