A PROPERTY in South Road, Watchet, was badly damaged by smoke after a fire on the hob on Thursday evening (December 29).

The fire service was called when smoke was seen coming out of the property and it was some time before all the occupants were accounted for.

Two fire engines, from Williton and Minehead, went to the scene at about 5.20pm and it was nearly 6.05pm before it could be confirmed that no-one was missing.

The property was heavily smoke logged with five per cent damage to the kitchen by fire, and 60 per cent damage by smoke to the rest of the property. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
