A LARGE group of people who tried to wade across mud at Blue Anchor bay to a waiting yacht while carrying luggage were turned back by Watchet and Minehead Coastguard, as well as police.

Somerset Council to decide if one of its councillors can keep 'temporary' caravansThe teams were called to the scene last Saturday evening, after 999 calls were made because of concern for the group’s safety.
The coastguard teams said they arrived at the beach and gave advice about the dangers of the mud, and the waders returned to the safety of the shore.
“Police assisted with checking the validity of the story of the group about to start a yachting experience trip,” the coastguards said.
They convinced the group that Blue Anchor beach was an unsuitable place to join a yacht, and that Watchet Harbour would be much better.
The skipper of the yacht was contacted, and agreed to take the yacht to Watchet on the tide.
