A CHILDREN’S favourite has disappeared from the popular play area of the Windmill Inn, West Quantoxhead, after thieves stole a bouncy castle.

They took the multi-coloured 12ft-by-12ft inflatable after closing time on Sunday night (May 28).

A staff member said the pub had provided a bouncy castle for past six years and the current top-of-the range model was less than a year old.

“It has always been very popular, particularly at this time of year, and already our young customers are disappointed that it’s gone.”

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said there was a brief sequence on the pub’s CCTV.

Because of the weight of the castle, at least two people could have been involved in stealing it and a larger than average vehicle would be needed to take it away.

A fence surrounding the castle was damaged during the theft.

Police have appealed for information from anyone offered an inflatable castle or who saw anything suspicious near the pub on Sunday night.

They should call 101 and quote number 5217120022.
