POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information following an incident in which a Williton man in his 60s was assaulted after being woken by an intruder.

The victim was asleep on his sofa at a property in Townsend, Williton, at around 11.55pm on Friday November 16, and was then assaulted.

The intruder fled the house, with a small amount of cash, in the direction of Long Street.

Specialist crime scene investigators have examined the property and police have also carried out house-to-house enquiries over the aggravated burglary.

The intruder is described as very slim with a spotty complexion, and wearing a green hoody and a black woollen scarf.

DC Caroline Killer said: “This was a disturbing and unsettling incident for the victim who, thankfully, only sustained cuts and bruises.”

She appealed to anyone who saw someone matching the description in the area at the time of the incident, or saw anything suspicious, to call 101, and give the reference number 5218255791.
