A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a van on the A358 near Sampford Brett last night.

The road was closed at Croft Meadow for several hours, causing severe tailback and delays as an ambulance, a rescue helicopter and two rapid response vehicles dealt with the casualty.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman asked anyone who witnessed the accident to call 101 and give the call-handler the reference 307 for July 9.

He added: “The motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in a critical condition.”
