A POLISH couple who became trapped at one of the most treacherous spots on the Exmoor coast were rescued in a joint operation by Minehead’s volunteer RNLI lifeboat crew last evening (Sunday, October 7).

The pair had been attempting to walk from Porlock Weir to Lynmouth when the rising tide caught them just east of Foreland Point and they found themselves unable to make any further progress.

They called 999 to report their position and Minehead’s two lifeboats were launched just after 6.30pm.

The D class boat managed to manoeuvre in to the rocky beach and reach the pair who were then transferred to the faster Atlantic class boat and landed at Lynmouth a few minutes later.
