A MAN was taken to hospital after a gas explosion involving a domestic oven in Porlock yesterday morning (November 6).

Fire engines from Porlock and Minehead were called to the scene in Porlock Weir Road at 8.15am.

On arrival, crews confirmed there was no fire but a gas oven had exploded, causing one casualty to go to hospital suffering from leg injuries.

Crews wore breathing apparatus as they made the scene safe using a hose reel jet, a safety jet and a thermal imaging camera.

The cause is believed to be accidental.
