SOME 50 square metres of ground caught fire at Dead Woman’s Ditch, Over Stowey, at about 9.25pm yesterday evening,

Two fire engines, one from Nether Stowey and the other from Williton, went to the scene where there was a large amount of smoke, and the officer in charge called for a 4x4 to give the crews easier access.

The fire was extinguished with the use of two hose reel jets and a fogging unit.
