MINEHEAD firefighters found their path blocked by parked cars when called to a blaze in woods at Alcombe Combe yesterday.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman urged residents to park more responsibly after two fire engines struggled to get through the narrow street.

The spokesman said the blaze was started by a discarded campfire in a fir plantation.

He added: “We would remind everyone to park so that emergency vehicles can pass and to keep their movements and activities within the current Government covid guidelines.”
