A woman driver was released from her car by fire and rescue crews after it left the road on Flaxpool Hill, Crowcombe, last night.

Crews from Williton and Nether Stowey and a heavy rescue vehicle from Taunton were sent to the scene.

A Devon and Somerset fire and rescue spokesman said: “The incident involved one vehicle and a female driver who was still inside. Crews stabilised the vehicle so that the driver could extricate herself and she was taken into care by an ambulance team and the incident handed over to the police.

“To deal with the incident , crews used a winch, stabilising equipment and lighting.”
