A MAN was trapped when his car ran into a hedge in West Quantoxhead this morning.

The ambulance was first on the scene, followed by three fire engines – from Williton, Nether Stowey and Minehead – at 8.44am along with a heavy rescue tender from Middlemoor.

Fire crews got to work to stabilise the vehicle and used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof.

They continued to assist the ambulance service to remove the casualty from the vehicle and he was left in the care of paramedics.

Meanwhile, fire crews made the vehicle and scene safe. Police were also in attendance.
