A MINEHEAD man whose stolen Range Rover had £11,000 worth of damage after it was crashed, said he was dismayed to hear nothing further this week when he tried to find out more from the police, who initially chased the car and later arrested a suspect.
Mechanic Oliver Maxwell, 41, had the keys of his car stolen from inside his house in Whitegate Road in the early hours of last Friday.
He woke up at 3.50am when he heard the car being started outside. He went after the thieves in his wife’s car, using an app that tracked an iPhone they had also stolen.
The tracking later went dead but Oliver said he had a call from the police who told him they had found the car abandoned in Porlock and arrested a suspect at a house a few hundred yards away.

Oliver told the Free Press that the police were very helpful initially and he was told an officer in charge would contact him but “I have not heard a peep”.
He had left messages and tried to find out from the local station what was happening, but when he tried to find out whether his car had in fact been dusted for fingerprints, he was not told anything.
“I know my car crime is no different to anyone else’s, but I’m just asking for some information.”
