PICTURED are members of the Exmoor Triathlon Club who travelled to Snowdonia to compete in a weekend of extreme triathlon races as part of Slateman 2016.
They faced a brutal course with an open water swim in a reservoir followed by a road bike ride over mountain passes and finishing with a run up the side of a slate quarry.
Conditions, with rain and chilly temperatures, made it even more challenging.
but that didn’t dampen the eight-strong team’s spirits and iand they enjoyed a successful first outing since the club was formed last November.
On Saturday, Hannah Bryant came first in the Super Sprint, inher first-ever race with an open water swim.
Amer Dehaini came 25th in the sprint as part of the ‘Savage’ which saw competitors compete in the sprint and full distance triathlons over two days.
On Sunday in the Slateman Full, which had 849 competitors, Lydia Rosling finished eighth female and 107th overall, while Amer Dehaini, with already tired legs from the previous day, came 121st.
Tom Rivett was 147th, Keith Brewster 157th, Adrian Virgin 11th in his category and 176th overall, James Cook 181st and Matthew Jones 352nd.
