MINEHEAD Ladies Hockey club celebrated their successful season in style with an end of season awards evening, held jointly with the men's hockey club.
The evening, which included a disco, was held at Minehead Barbarian's Rugby Club who provided a sit-down meal and bar.
Chairperson Jan Weetch summarised the club's winning season, during which several new members joined and have helped turn the club's fortunes. With the loss of key players in the run-up to the season the club was barely able to field a full team back in September, but under the guidance of captain Amy Tisshaw the team went on to be undefeated in the league, notching up 16 wins and one draw.
Presented by Club president Eileen Denley the award winners were: The Foy Award: Amy Tisshaw, the Jo Harding Cup (most promising U21 player): Morgan Cooper. The Webber Cup (veteran of the year) was presented to Tracey Bailey. The Gliddon Cup (most improved) was won jointly by Charlotte Hirons and Kate Lancaster. The player's player of the year was Amy Tisshaw and Wendy Daughtrey was named the Captain's player.
The club's AGM is to be held on 16th May and anyone wanting to be involved is very welcome. More information can be found on the club's Facebook Page.
