WEST Somerset College student Brendon Pentland became the county discus champion on Saturday.

He is pictured on the right with Martell Payn, who came third in the 100 metres.

The duo were among several college athletes who travelled to Millfield School to represent the Sedgemoor Area in the County Championships.

Joining them were Lamar Bento, Kieran Hoy, Katlyn Porter, Emily Kingston, Lucy Curtis and Hollie Webber, who all represented their school and district with great commitment.

Brendon won the discus with a throw of 27 metres and has been asked to captain the Somerset team at the South West regional event later this month.
