SOMERSET professional Ryan Searle pulled off a shock win over the No 2 seed Peter Wright in the World Matchplay Darts Championships at Blackpool last night (Wed).

'Heavy Metal' Searle, who beat former world No 1 Raymond van Barnaveld in the first round earlier this week, beat Wright 11-8.

He now plays the No 7 seed Johnny Claydon for a place in the semi-finals. Punters could get 66-1 on Searle winning the championship before the event started.
