MINEHEAD Barbarians Under 11s travelled over the border to play against South Molton on Sunday,
With the home team having 17 players and Minehead having 15 players it was hard to ensure everyone got the same amount of playing time, but it was achieved and both sides adapted well to multiple changes ,
The visitors knew they had to be on top of their game, producing some strong tackling and rucks which led to three good tries. However strong play from South Molton saw them score two tries making the half time score 15-10 to Minehead.
The second half started with the same level of commitment but it was the home team who scored first after several good passages of play. Minehead then proved that teamwork pays off with fierce tackling supporting each other and being stronger in the ruck, which gave them two further tries. The final score was South Molton 15 Minehead Barbarians 25 points.
This was another great all round performance from the Minehead Barbarians Under 11s which saw everyone giving 100% effort. The Gladiator of the Day was Molly Milton, while the Barbarian of the Day went to Henry Ellicott.
Meanwhile Barbarians Under 14s continued their incredible unbeaten run with a hard-fought home victory over a strong South Molton side. Led by captain Alfie Harris, the hosts showed determination, teamwork and attacking flair from the very first whistle.
The opening breakthrough came from Harry Tucker, who went over to open the scoresheet which Finlay Penny converted. The Barbarians began to dominate and control possession, which saw two tries for Jesse Bruce and one each from Arthur Gell, and Ed White.
South Molton remained determined but the Barbarians secured a well-deserved 33–24 victory. This was a fantastic team performance—well done, Barbarians!Barbarian of the Day: Jesse Bruce and Gladiator of the Day: Finlay Penny.
