MINEHEAD Barbarians Under 14s travelled to play against newly formed Wells at the weekend, who struggled throughout the match to contain the visitors attacking power and team work.
The Barbarians, who eventually won 50-0, were captained by Jesse Bruce who led from the front and who opened the scoring when he went over for the first of many tries. Finnlay Penny then calmly slotted home the conversion to set the tone for the rest of the game.
The Barbarians were very much in the ascendancy as Freddie Bishop powered over for another early try, giving his side a strong start . Arthur Gell crossed the line twice in quick succession for the visitors., before Ed White then added his name to the scoresheet, and Freddie followed up with a successful conversion.
The second half saw no let up with the Minehead Barbarians displaying more of their attacking flair, during which there were further tries from Jesse, Arthur, and Ed, sealing another convincing victory for the visitors.
This was another great all round performance from Minehead Barbarians Under 14s who are enjoying a successful season. Well done and thank you to all of the players, the coaches and everyone who has supported the team and been part of the wider rugby community this year.
Freddie Bishop was awarded the Barbarian of the Day for his outstanding tackling and for covering every inch of the pitch. The Gladiator of the Day was presented to Alfie Harris for his fearless tackling and relentless defensive work.
The Minehead Barbarian junior sides are all enjoying success this season which bodes well for the future of cClub going forward. A lot of people devote their time to develop junior rugby and their time and effort is paying off- well done to all parties!
