MINEHEAD Barbarians will be aiming to step up the pressure at the top of Counties Two Somerset South when they play away to struggling Chew Valley 2nd XV on Saturday, November 22.

Valley have lost all six of their league matches this season and are four points adrift at the bottom of the table.

Minehead, now coached by New Zealander Isaiah Graham-Hooper, were last in action when they stormed to a 50-0 win against Keynsham in front of their own supporters earlier this month.

The seasiders have won their last five matches and are lying third in the table, seven points adrift of leaders Clevedon, who are 100 per cent, having won all six of their fixtures.

Minehead’s only defeat was a 66-3 away drubbing by Burnham on Sea on the opening day of the season. Since then they have piled up 150 points in winning their last five games.

Fixtures for Saturday, November 22: Avon v Oldfield Old Boys, Chew Valley v Minehead Barbarians, Keynsham v Hornets, Rebels Rugby v Clevedon, St Bernadettes Old Boys v Imperial, Castle Cary v Burnham on Sea.

Minehead Barbarians 2nd XV will also be looking to maintain their fine start to the season when they play at home to Tor 2nd XV in Counties Four Somerset South.

Minehead are lying third in the table, having lost only one of their six matches, while Tor are eighth, having won only two games.

Minehead are only one point behind leaders Morganians, while Somerton are second on points difference.

Morganians are away to Wells while Somerton are also away - to Wincanton.
