WIMBLEBALL Rowing Club held their annual Presentation Evening on a cold and frosty Friday evening when the rowers arrived at the Notley Arms.

It was a well-attended event and an occasion for club members to meet up in clothing other than lycra. The food was excellent and the venue conducive to pleasant conversation.

Following the meal there was a review of the year and Andrea and Steve Worley, club Chair and Vice Chair, presented the club awards which had been beautifully hand made by Lizzie Chadwick.

Committee members were also presented with gifts for their work during the year.

The following day was the annual Christmas row where brave souls ventured out in icy conditions to blow away the previous evenings' excesses. Award winners included: Crab of the Year: Sam Batten (overwhelming winner); Boat Buff(er) of the Year: Tom Cann; Golden Flipper: Al Pascall; Long Service (suffering) Award: Judy Ansell; Wimbleball Welly (most memorable achievement) Womens Eight crew. Winners at Henley Town and Visitors Regatta; Club Contribution: Lizzie Chadwick; Club Member: Seren Prendville; Most Improved Rower: Ollie Burrows; Male Rower of the Year: Adrian Theed; Female Rower of the Year: Sarah Pascall.

In the New Year the club will hopefully be running learn to row courses, so if you’re interested at either getting back into rowing or would like to give it a go contact details for the club can be found on their website or Facebook page.
