MINEHEAD Cycling Club members were in action over the weekend.

The roadies were in Hampshire at the New Forest Classic, 85 hilly miles taken at a rapid pace. The theme of the day seemed to be lovely countryside, lots of personal bests, fuelled by packets of crisps and sunshine, and, to reward the finishers, a bottle of local beer.

The off roaders were in Devon to ride the Haldon Heroic Gravel event. This was 55 miles in the lanes and byways from Exeter racecourse.

Janet Hewlett said; "There were still some slippery bits that had to be negotiated with caution, but, thank goodness, it had dried up.’’
