MINEHEAD Barbarians Under 9s travelled to Taunton to take part in the hosts' tournament on Sunday.

With the Barbarians having not played a game for over a month, to play Taunton first up was going to be interesting.

However Minehead's defensive work was so good that Taunton never got into the Barbarian’s half while their attacking play was equally as good which produced several tries.

This set the standard for the rest of the day and playing against Bridgwater, then Somerton and Crewkerne twice, Minehead kept their standard of defence and attack with some outstanding passages of play. They were impressive throughout resulting in the Barbarians Under 9s playing six and winning all six of their games.

Team managers Grahame and Faye Symes said: “These Under 9s play as a team, never moaning if someone makes a mistake but instead showing each other respect and encouraging each other which in turn has enabled them to become a team that so far this season are undefeated.”
