NIC Pettit from Minehead Running Club took part in the Bridgwater Half Marathon and in perfect conditions on a fairly flat route completed the course in 1.44.49 to come 108th out of nearly 400 runners and finish second male 65 and over.

Tony Hampson ran the 10k at the same event in 1.00.23, finishing 101st.

Matthew Bowden and Jo Taphouse took part in the Ash Excellent Eight, the main event in a day of running events near Yeovil.

Over a multi-terrain route divided evenly between road and trail, which the overnight rain had made slippery in parts, the mainly flat course didn’t suit either, who are more used to the hills of Exmoor.

Matthew held on to tenth place in 57.28, with Jo seventh lady in 66.57 in what was a very strong women’s field.

Club members Adam Kent and Sarah North travelled to their old club to take part in Bude Rats’ Pirate Run, an eight mile race on coastal paths near Bude in Cornwall with around 850 feet of climbing.

Adam was 12th in 66.01 and Sarah 68th in 86.49.
