THREE Minehead Running Club members took part in the Wambrook Waddle on Sunday May 15 and two won prizes in the race held near Chard.

The fast downhill start suited the Minehead runners and Matthew Bowden was leading at the half-mile point, but a long uphill drag and the undulating course saw stronger climbers pass him and he finished sixth in 47.22, one place lower than last year.

Jo Taphouse won the ladies’ section for the second year in a row with a time of 52,02, coming 16th overall, and her father Phil picked up a prize for the first time in a long career with first place in the male vet 60 category in 60.24.

The Ottery 10k, a fairly flat race on quiet country lanes, took place on the same day and veteran John Lethaby, still going strong, finishing 14th in the MV60 section in 76.06.

At the other end of the age spectrum, local runner Ben Tull finished sixth in 36.05.
