ROADWATER Cricket Club have held their 150th anniversary Legends Day on a glorious sunny day.
The event was hugely successful and well supported by the villagers and by people across the whole of West Somerset who all entered into the spirit of the occasion and enjoyed themselves.
The organisers would like to say a special thank you to all the local businesses who donated so many amazing raffle prizes which enabled the day to be so financially successful, raising over £1300 on the day towards club funds.
The bar and bbq were hugely popular and the Duck Race was a sell out and won by Jason Laney whose son was playing in the match.
The highlight of the day was the 22 over 12 a side cricket match between The Legends and The Younguns.
Captained by Steve Cornish the Legends decided to field first and handed the new ball to Paul Cox who was still finding a lot of swing before collapsing in a heap on the field shortly afterwards!
Top performances for the Legends saw two wickets for Sebastian Bucknall, and a 34 retired from Freddy Wilson.
The Younguns, who performed slightly better as a whole, saw two wickets for Zack Watson and retirements from Harry Symonds, Ryan Lobb and Charlie Payne.
In the end it was the Younguns who won by 24 runs but history was the winner on the day as everyone celebrated the 150th year anniversary.
