MORE THAN 180 golfers played for the Pete Littern Trophy at Oake Manor Golf Club, raising a fabulous amount of more than £5,000 for the Captains Charity, which is the Children’s Hospice South West.
The competition was organised by the Acorns Golf Society, who are a group of golfers within Oake Manor Golf Club, mainly founder members of the club. Pete Littern was an Acorns member but unfortunately was a victim of Covid.
The competition was played in teams of four and the top three teams all scored 102 points but on count back the winners were Harvey Piper, Francis Barnsley, Bobby Jones and Robin Koolhoven. In second place were Mike Bright, Matt Bright, Edward Winter and Glyn Pearce while in third place were Bernard Reed, George Rollinson, Steve Plowman and Mark Rollinson.
There were spot prizes on 16 of the holes and an auction for free rounds of golf for four people at Saltford was won by Club Captain Richard Goodman, Came Down was won by Kevin Gratton and Lyme Regis was won by Alan Cleland, while Ashley Gains won the raffle for a free 4 Ball at Exeter Golf and Country Club.
The Acorns would like to thank all the competitors, the Pro Shop, Green Staff and all the sponsors who gave so generously.
