WATCHET Town will put themselves in a strong position to avoid relegation in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Somerset County League if they beat fellow strugglers Worle at home tomorrow (Sat, 3p.m.)

Watchet, who crashed 11-1 at Nailsea last weekend, are one point ahead of Worle with two matches to play. Worle have three games remaining, one of which is away to fourth-placed Nailsea.

“We should be able to field a much stronger side this weekend,” said Watchet club spokesman Nick Sully. “We had four players at a wedding last weekend, goalkeeper Vinny Jones was unavailable, along with youngsters Riley Willis and Eddie Townsend who should be back.

“If we lose against Worle we’re down. If we can win and also beat Chard away then we should be ok. That’s if three teams are relegated which is not always the case.”

Meanwhile Minehead will be looking to bounce back after their 2-0 defeat by leaders Congresbury when they play at home to Keynsham Town Reserves in the first division (3p.m.).

Minehead have slipped to eighth spot in the table and have little chance of promotion although they still have six matches to play.
