PORLOCK Reserves continued their winning run in Division Two of the Taunton and District Saturday Football League when they beat their high flying visitors Nether Stowey Reserves 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The home side made a bright start and were rewarded early on when, after quarter of an hour, they were awarded a penalty which Oliver Heathfield calmly stepped up and converted tor give the home side a well deserved lead.
Nether Stowey, who prior to this game had only been beaten once in the league this season, responded well and applied pressure throughout the first half, but Porlock goalkeeper Connor Patterson was up for the challenge and produced a string of outstanding saves to preserve his side’s advantage.
Despite there being several attempts by both sides to score neither team was successful and it remained 1-0 to the hosts at the interval.
The second half saw Nether Stowey pushing forward in search of the equaliser but whatever scoring chances they had were dealt with by the inform goalkeeper Patterson.
As the game entered stoppage time, Nether Stowey continued their search to level the scores, pushing more and more forward leaving space at the back.
Deep into the added time in the 94th minute Porlock made the game safe when Rhys Roberts finished clinically after a clever assist from Joe Fitz, securing all three points and sparking celebrations among the home supporters.
Connor Patterson’s commanding performance between the posts rightfully earned him the Man of the Match award.
The result marks Porlock’s third straight victory, a testament to their growing confidence and team spirit as they continue to climb the table..
