PORLOCK are through to the third round of the Somerset Junior Cup after a last-gasp 4-3 away win over Wyvern.

It was the visitors Porlock who started the game the better, controlling possession and sending multiple shots for the home goal keeper to deal with. About mid way through the first half a corner whipped in by Jari High was met by Harry Kivell who headed the ball past the Wyvern goal keeper, making it 1-0 to the visitors.

The goal gave Porlock more spirit and it was only moments later before a shot from Ollie Morris was parried by the goal keeper towards inform striker Caleb Laney who tapped it home for his fourth goal in as many games.

When the half time whistle blew Porlock went in at the interval 2-0 up and looked to be cruising to victory.

However it was Wyvern who came out the better of the sides and pulled one back soon after the re-start, scoring a well worked goal by their striker.

This goal saw Robins’ manager James Griffiths introduce some fresh legs in Joe Fitzsimmons and Braden Taylor, and that appeared to work as not long after entering the field of play captain Adam Langdon played a lovely lobbed through ball to Fitzsimmons who latched on to it and chipped the goalkeeper to restore the two goal lead for Porlock.

Wyvern were not disheartened, however, and they kept pressing to get back in to the game. Their fortunes changed when they were awarded a penalty after centre back Chris James was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area. The Wyvern captain stepped up and calmly slotted it past Darren Sherring.

Porlock introduced some more fresh legs and a tactical change was then made which saw Ryan Parsons, Jack Evans and Lewis Goodrum enter the game.

With the clock ticking down and Porlock looking to kill the game a ball fell to Ryan Parsons in the penalty area and he unleashed a powerful strike which somehow the Wyvern keeper managed to keep out but at the cost of an injury as he was forced to be substituted.

The Wyvern team were not phased by this as they continued to press for an equaliser which they got when their young centre back found the ball fall to his feet at the edge of the area and he found the far corner to make the game 3-3 with only minutes to go.

With penalties in mind the manager brought some of his subs back on in Jari High and Ollie Morris, because he was expecting the game to be decided on penalties. However the two subs had something different in mind and it was the two combining from a corner in the dying seconds of the game to score as Ollie Morris whipped the ball in to the box and it was met by the foot of Jari High as he put the game to bed with only a matter of seconds on the clock.

With that the final whistle blew and Porlock advanced through to the next round of the county cup.
