MINEHEAD Reserves fought out a goalless away draw against Wembdon Reserves, one of the favourites for the title in Division One of the Taunton Saturday League, coming away with a valuable point.

From the start the game was fairly even albeit Minehead had marginally more possession. However on a pitch of minimum dimensions some of Minehead’s longer balls were over hit and despite the never ending running of Scott Kivell on the right their attacks never came to anything.

Minehead’s defence of Lyam Scheepers, Fin Landon, Harvey Lovell and the gloveless Myles Campbell-Farmer stood firm in the first 45 minutes with Wembdon having the better chances. The second half saw substitute Josh Heath, in his first game for well over a year, join the midfield of Dan Vickers, Haiden Griffiths and Tommy Robinson and while there was endeavour throughout the balance of possession and shots was in favour of the Bridgwater outfit.

However with Oli Jones joining the defence and Tomasz Kubaczewski pulling off some good saves Wembdon were kept at bay. Callum Hawker replaced Robinson and Minehead’s only shot of any substance was a long range effort from Griffiths. Striker Riley Pope was a little toothless on the day although the quality of ball will not have helped his cause.

Not a particularly entertaining match, not helped by the small pitch resulted in Minehead earning a point which they would be far the happier with. Man of the match :- Scott Kivell.

Minehead Reserves: Tomasz Kubaczewski, Lyam Scheepers, Fin Landon, Harvey Lovell, Myles Campbell-Farmer, Tommy Robinson, Dan Vickers, Oli Jones, Haiden Griffiths, Scott Kivell, Riley Pope, Subs:- Josh Heath, Callum Hawker.

Minehead Reserves find themselves in fourth place in the table, having taken four points from their opening two league matches.
