FORMER player and current secretary of Alcombe Rovers, Jason Hill is to take over as chairman of Minehead Association Football Club.
The announcement has been made by the present chairman Mark Vickers who says: “Following returning to the chairman’s role for a period of 12 months last July, it is with great pleasure that I am able to disclose that my successor with effect from the AGM in June is Jason Hill.
“Jason is a Minehead man and is well known throughout West Somerset for his roles within the footballing community, either from his playing days, through his coaching role within Minehead Youth or for the last 12 months as a Director of Minehead AFC with a specific role of overseeing the youth section.
“He has spent a lot of time looking at the wider aspects of the pathway through Minehead youth into senior football, either with one of the Minehead adult sides or one of our West Somerset neighbours. For some years Jason has also been the secretary at Alcombe Rovers and I know it is with a heavy heart that he leaves them behind albeit I am sure on a sound footing.
“When I returned to the club in July a successor wasn’t clear but as I have got to know Jason he has become the obvious choice. I have been really impressed with his ideas, his work ethic and his knowledge of football. After some months of discussions I was delighted when he felt able to accept.
“Jason is liked and respected by all the current directors at Minehead and his appointment was very well received by all. I know I leave the club in very capable hands and while I will still be around the club, I know he will take it forward from strength to strength.”
