MINEHEAD Under 14s were away on Sunday to a Bridgwater Wolves side beaten only once in the current season and they suffered an 11-0 defeat.

They only had 11 players available and the Wolves were soon forcing the defence into mistakes, and it wasn’t long before they opened the scoring when Minehead were unable to clear their lines properly.

They young Blues found it difficult to get a hold in the game and were constantly under pressure from a side who hunted in packs to win the ball back when they lost it.

They more goals came in quick succession to give Bridgwater a firm grip on the game, but Minehead then created a couple of good chances following strong runs by Shahid Abraham, although they were unable to finish off the good approach play.

After Wolves had made it 5-0, Minehead created their best opportunity of the half as half-time approached, but following a good cross by Rio Howard, Zeb Toogood was unable to keep his shot down and it flew over the bar.

The second half started much the same as the first, with Bridgwater coming out of the blocks quickly and quickly making it 6-0.

Two more goals followed in quick succession as Minehead seemed to have no answers to the physicality of the Wolves attack, then Bartosz Kubaczewski had a rare opportunity for the away side following some good work on the right side, but his shot across the diving keeper went agonisingly wide of the far post.

Another chance came from a pass by Ethan Plenty but Briony Smith’s snapshot went straight into the keeper’s grasp.

Bridgwater then added three further goals and missed a penalty as they completed a dismal afternoon for the travelling team.

Man of the match was Zeb Toogood, who never stopped running and battling throughout the game.
