MINEHEAD suffered their first defeat of the season when they went down 4-1 away to Bristol side Westbury A in Central Division Two of the South West Hockey League.

In driving rain, they put in a lifeless display and after being only 1-0 down at the break shipped three further second-half goals.

M Jones scored a consolation for the visitors in the final minutes, but the defeat was no more than the seasiders deserved.

They dropped to third place in the table with a tricky match this weekend against new leaders Weston-Super-Mare.
