ASHBRITTLE have finished runners-up in the first division of the West Somerset Cricket League after their last match of the season away to Watchet was cancelled by the new champions.
It means Ashbrittle, last season’s winners, finished 24 points behind Watchet with Kilve in third spot 23 points adrift.
Brompton Ralph and Winsford will be the two sides to be relegated from the top division.
In their last match of the season in the second division, Over Stowey beat Morebath by four wickets. It was Stowey’s sixth victory of the summer and they finished eighth in the table with Morebath in sixth place.
Put into bat, Morebath were bowled out for 175 in 37.2 overs with S Nelson being their top scorer with 90, which included 14 fours and one six. D Rottenbury also hit 36 while K Barrow took 5-44 and T Coleman 2-7.
Stowey knocked off the runs in 35.2 overs with Barrow being the Man of the Match with 78 not out, an innings which included 11 fours and two sixes. S Thomas was 38 not out and shared in an unbroken seventh wicket stand of 61 with Barrow.
In the second division Stogumber ended their season with a six-wicket success against Churchinford who made 183-8 in their 40 overs with Ali Layard scoring 68 and Kristan Morgan 40.
Jake Watson scored 52 for Stogumber, while D Godfrey was 45 not out and M Richards scored 37.
It was Stogumber’s seventh win of the season and they finished in fourth spot while Churchinford came sixth with only five wins from their 16 matches and will be relegated along with bottom side Roadwater.
Crowcombe won the title in Division Two, finishing 82 points clear of Sampford Arundel, while Lydeard came third.
