STOGUMBER have moved up to third in Division Two of the West Somerset Cricket League after beating Stoke St Mary by five wickets.
In one of the few matches played in the league because of rain, Stoke batted first after losing the toss and were bowled out for 110 with George Johnston (23), Joseph Harding (22) and Dan Callow (19) being their leading batters.
Elias Hayes was in good form with the ball, snapping up 4-12 in 4.4 overs while M Richings took 2-15 and Jake Watson 2-32.
Hayes opened the Stogumber innings with Elliot Brick and scored 36 while Ben Rexworthy steered his side to victory with 55 not out. Stogumber achieved their target in the 22nd over.
Hemyock won the only game played in the third division, gaining an exciting four-run win over Carhampton in a match reduced to 30 overs.
Pavisekan Nadesvaran was the star of Hemyock’s innings, slamming 129 with 13 fours and eight sixes, in a score of 241-6. Malcolm Steer hit 71 with eight fours and three sixes.
Carhampton came up just short, knocking 237-5 with good knocks by Sam Price (92, including nine fours and four sixes), James Snell and Ryan Cape who both scored 46. Nadesvaran was Man of the Match with 3-36.
Cutcombe, whose match at home to Stoodleigh was cancelled, stay top of Division Three but their lead has been reduced to 11 points by Hemyock who have a game in hand.
No matches were played in the first division because of the bad weather which means Kilve, who were due to play at home to Bridgetown, held onto their 23 point lead at the top.
Bagborough remain second while Watchet are third 12 points further adrift with a game in hand . Champions Ashbrittle are fourth a point further behind.
