MINEHEAD played their opening match of the season in Under 11 West B of the Taunton & District Youth Cricket League when they hosted their Over Stowey counterparts on a sunny Sunday morning.

Minehead included six players who were making their debut at this level and all played well in a competitive match that went down to the last over.

Over Stowey chose to bat first and did well as there were boundaries for George, Tom and Ashton, with George top scorer with eight runs. Crucially only two wickets were lost with Rilee and Archie the successful bowlers for Minehead, as Over Stowey ended on 247 for two.

The home team fielded really well led by captain Holly and there was a fine catch by Heath. Chester also bowled well his three overs costing only 13 runs

Callum and Holly opened the batting for Minehead and Callum hit two fours in a top score of 11. There were also three fours for Heath, who was unfortunate to be out twice in the last over.

A fine last over by Tom for the visitors saw them win the match as Minehead ended on 232 for six.

Heath was named as Minehead player of the match following a good team performance.
