MINEHEAD II extended their winning run to seven games with a convincing home victory over local rivals Watchet on Saturday.

Batting first, Watchet lost both openers early before Adam Bishop (51) and Ian Lowe (44) steadied the innings.

They took the score past 100 before both fell in quick succession as Minehead skipper Gav Paviour proved too good for the vulnerable middle order, recording figures of 6-36 from his nine overs to leave the visitors 152 all out in 41 overs.

In reply, Minehead lost Dan Godfrey for 14 but Angus Marsh and Craig Sully thenset about reducing the deficit in stylish fashion, both finding the boundary with ease.

Marsh was first past 50, closely followed by Sully, who was then dismissed for 61 with less then ten needed for victory.

Marsh stood firm and finished with an impressive 68 not out as he guided his team home with more than 15 overs to spare, picking up the maximum 35 points in the process.

Minehead travel to second from bottom Huish and Langport tomorrow (Saturday) looking for another victory before facing leaders Wells the following week in potentially the key game of the season.
