BRIDGETOWN gained a 46-run home victory over East Huntspill in Division One of the West Somerset Cricket League.
In overcast conditions Bridgetown elected to bat and Dan Sizer and Ken Cross set off at a good rate, reaching 39 in the sixth over, when Cross was dismissed.
Ben Luxton joined Sizer in a 93 run partnership, but the change bowlers pegged back the scoring rate, and when Sizer was bowled for 70 the score was 132 for two.
Chris Wookey was soon dismissed, smartly caught down the leg side by keeper Edwards off the bowling ofJason Smith, but Charlie Gliddon joined Luxton and they upped the scoring rate in a further partnership of 93 to take the score to 226 for four after 37 overs, Luxton falling to Smith for a well made 81.
Henry Bond joined Gliddon for some mayhem at the end of the innings to post a challenging 260 for four.
The visitors got off to the worst possible start, opener G Audibert bowled by Tom Gliddon for a duck in the third over. Wookey struck twice from the other end as Huntspill reached 50 for three after 10 overs.
Simon Costello replaced Wookey after 13 overs and struck straight away, removing the dangerous Fear for 52 making Huntspill 76 for four. When Costello got a second wicket at 92 for five the game looked to be beyond the reach of the away side.
However, Watt joined Doyle in a useful 59 run partnership before Costello dismissed Doyle for 30. James McDermott entered the fray and dismissed Watt for 55, and despite some lusty blows from Edwards and Glew, the bowler struck twice more to leave the visitors 214 for nine in the 39th over.
Theo Sizer pinned Glew lbw in the last over to finish the job, Bridgetown recording a 46-run victory.
