HOLFORD, who play inf Division 5 of the Somerset Cricket League, won the Somerset Minor Cup after beating Bedminster Thirds in the final at the Cooper Associates County Ground on Sunday.

After being put in Jack Rich and Rod Wright gave Holford a good start and took the total onto 40 when Rich was out for 35 in the seventh over. Wright was joined by Taylor Buller who upped the run rate and took the total onto 123 when Wright was out for 24.

Taylor Buller went onto make 64 off 37 balls with 12 fours before he was out with the total on 134 in the 16th over as Holford ended their innings on 169 for six from their 20 overs.

When they replied with the scoreboard showing 70 for one in the seventh over, Bedminster looked favourites, However Ian Jeanes then entered the attack and wickets started to fall and they soon found themselves 93 for six.

A seventh wicket partnership of 41 took the Bedminster total onto 134 before Jordan Buller removed the dangerous Sam Hawes leg before wicket for 30. The Holford bowlers and fielders kept up the pressure and limited Bedminster to 157 for nine, giving the West Somerset side victory by 12 runs. Jeanes was the pick of the bowlers, ending with four for 16, while Taylor Buller had two for 36.

The previous day Holford had won a top of the table clash against Trull.Holford amassed 301 for four from their 40 overs, that included 106 from Rich, 58 from Ross Wright and Job Penny not out 57.

When Trull responded they were all out for 73 in 23.3 overs, Mike Barrow claiming five for 34 from eight overs while Jeanes took a miserly two for five from five overs, two of which were maidens.
