The Kilve opening bowlers took a few overs to settle, during which time Fred Stevens took advantage with some well struck boundaries. However, he mistimed a pull shot to square leg, off the bowling of J Taylor and Bridgetown were 25-1 in the fifth over. Taylor then trapped Sizer lbw soon after and followed up with a good Yorker to dismiss Dan Thorne, 46-3 after 9 overs.
Charlie Gliddon and Rob Stevens both punished any short bowling, but Jay Darrell bowled Gliddon for 33 and Bridgetown were 87-4 in the 19th over. Henry Bond was then bowled by Dan Sefton and at 97-5, Bridgetown looked like setting an under par score, especially when Stevens was out leaving Bridgetown 112/6 in the 24th. Ben Bond joined James McDermott in a superb partnership of 93 that turned the innings around as McDermott hit a sparkling 69. When he fell to T Wilcox, the rest of the lower order quickly subsided but a final total of 218 looked a good effort. Taylor took 3-19. Kilve made a steady start against some disciplined bowling from McDermott and Tom Gliddon. After 9 overs Kilve had made just 27, with keeper B Gannon trapped lbw by Gliddon. Carl Clemenson was looking composed, but when he fell to Dan Thorne for 32 on 67 in the 16th over, a middle order collapse was precipitated, Kilve reduced to 79-5 in the 21st, as Henry Bond picked up a couple of wickets and Thorne added another.
Darrell and J Wheatley threatened to mimic Bridgetown’s mid order revival, but Darrell pumped a ball from Dan Cross down Fred Stevens’ throat to leave Kilve 117-6. Cross and Bond mopped up the tail as Kilve were all out for 136.
