MINEHEAD moved closer to the Premier Division title on Saturday despite not completing their game away to Taunton Deane.
The Deane had made 169-7 when rain brought the match to a premature end after 34 overs.
The impressive Jay Darrell made full use of the new ball as he dismissed both openers in the first six overs, finishing with 2-42, and Brad Martin took 3-34.
The 19 points Minehead secured leaves them 54 points clear of Middlezoy, who picked up 35 points without a ball being bowled, as opponents Bagborough forfeited the match.
And they can clinch the title tomorrow (Saturday) when, fittingly, they host Middlezoy.
l Just three overs were bowled before Watchet’s Division Two game at home to Kilmington and Stourton had to be called off, with Watchet having made 13-0.
They picked up 12 points but have suffered relegation for the second season running, as with just one game to play they can longer catch third-from-bottom Shapwick and Polden II.
l Minehead II’s game with Burnham was called off without a ball being bowled.
