SOMERSET'S young spinner Shoaib Bashir snapped up a maiden Test wicket on his England debut in the Second Test Match against India which got underway in Visakhapatnam today (Fri).

Bashir bowled a total of 28 overs - ten more than any of his teammates - and eventually took 2-100 as India finished on 333-6 on the opening day.

After initial visa problems prevented the tall 20 year old right arm bowler being available for the opening match of the five test series, Bashir has impressed the England bosses with the way he has performed.

Ironically Bashir got his chance because his Somerset team-mate Jack Leach has had to miss the match after suffering a knee injury in the opener.
