SEVENTY riders battled their way around the demanding roads between Wheddon Cross, Luckwell Bridge and Winsford in the first running of the Stella Farrell Exmoor Grand Prix on Sunday.

Organised by Minehead Cycling Club, the race was won by Yeovil based Daniel Mcquillan, with Duncan Heywood from Cornwall second.

Local favourite Graham Collins, of Minehead team Tanks Direct, made a spirited solo attempt to catch the chasers towards the end of the race but couldn’t reach them and finished in the main group of riders in 18th place.
