SIR — In the 14 years I have lived in Minehead we have been extremely fortunate to have had a number of top class brass bands visit the Regal Theatre to entertain us with music of the highest standard.

The first one I remember, the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, was a sell out, as were their subsequent visits, and when Black Dyke Mills Band and Fodens Motor Works Band also visited there were few if any empty seats.

It was, therefore, sad to see the Regal less than half full on Sunday when we were entertained by the Flowers Band, current winner of the Butlins Mineworkers Championship for the second year running, and this was also the situation last year when the Leyland Band played here.

It is a privilege to be able to listen to world class bands of this calibre but if Minehead people fail to support them bands will not feel it worthwhile to travel long distances to entertain us in a half empty theatre.

I can only say to those who were not there on Sunday that you missed an absolute classic of a concert, possibly the best yet.

Alan Grieve,

Heather Close,

Minehead.
