SIR — I was delighted to read your report regarding the very worthwhile cleaning project being undertaken by members of Kingsbrompton Young Farmers Club (Free Press July 15).
It is an asset to the area that the young farmers appreciate the importance of looking after our heritage for the enjoyment of future generations.
The original, traditional cast iron signage within the area of Exmoor National Park enhances the quiet, unspoilt ambience for visitors and locals alike and certainly enhances the visitor experience.
I commend the young farmers for voluntarily stepping in to maintain these original signs, where once again the county council lacks funding for such maintenance, and I wish them every success in their Countryside Challenge being organised by the National Federation of Young Farmers.
