SIR — Ramond Austin (Your Letters August 8) suggests that the mass walk out from the West Somerset Railway Association AGM on July 19 was in fact just folks returning to their special train. I travelled back to Stogumber on that train, presumably Mr Austin did not. Only some 20 persons travelled on the train but around 160 left the hall as part of the walk out, so the facts don't bear out Mr Austin's comments – what of the 140 odd who were not travelling by train? It is telling that, just as with Paul Johnson's letter to you (Free Press August 1), the supporters of the present trustees appear not to be able to deal with reality as it is, rather they live in a cloud cuckoo land invented by themselves. The resumed AGM is now to be held at 7pm on Sunday (August 17) at Bishops Lydeard Village Hall and is likely to be a very lively session. The timing appears to have been chosen to be as difficult as possible for members to attend, and contemptuous of those who need to travel any distance or go to work the following day. But I would urge any WSRA member who is able to attend. Robin White, Stogumber.
