Every year the Minehead Amnesty group has a “Write for Rights” event near Christmas when shoppers can take the opportunity to sign a card for people suffering human rights abuses.
This year, to mark 100 years since British suffragettes fought bravely to get a vote, women all over the world who have been attacked, jailed, harassed or killed defending their human rights are remembered.
People in West Somerset have traditionally been very supportive and scores of cards are usually signed.
Minehead Amnesty members are hoping they will again find time to pop into the Methodist Church in the Avenue, have a cup of tea or coffee, and sign a card between 10am and noon next Friday (December 14).
