THE first in a series of drop-in sessions for women in West Somerset to explain what help they might need in finding a job or new skills takes place in Stogursey on Tuesday (May 2).
West Somerset has been allocated some funding from the Department for Education (DfE) to help address a number of concerns centred on social mobility.
West Somerset Council is working alongside the county council, as well as a range of other organisations, to pinpoint how this funding could be used to make sure the right support is available.
The project organisers are particularly keen to understand the barriers that prevent women from accessing jobs and learning opportunities in and around West Somerset.
They also want to know the type of support women would like to see made available so they can make the most of what is on offer.
Tuesday’s drop-in session from 9.30am until noon is at The Greyhound, Stogursey, and will be followed at:
* Williton Children’s Centre, 9.30am to 12.30am, Tuesdays May 8 and 1pm to 3pm May 15.
* Watchet Community Centre, 1.30pm to 3pm, Tuesday, May 8.
* Alcombe Children’s Centre, 10.30am to 12.30pm, Wednesday May 9.
* The Greyhound Inn, Stogursey, 9.30am to noon on Wednesday 16.
