NEW jobs are being created by a West Somerset engineering firm as it moves to 24-hour-a-day working to cope with growing demand for its products.

Deso Engineering, on the Roughmoor industrial estate, in Williton, has added a third shift Mondays to Fridays to cope with its increased order book.

The company, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and has an annual £10 million turnover, is part of the Irish-owned global Kingspan Group.

Founded in 1984, it is a rotational moulding company specialising in the design and production of liquid storage and dispensing containers covering everything from fuel and oil to portable water.

It has an international customer base ranging from homeowners to businesses and farmers.

The firm already employs more than 45 people and is now recruiting and training staff to build an eight-strong crew for the new shift.

Although the shift is already up and running, four positions are still to be filled, all of which are for production operators who do not require experience because the company will provide training and ongoing development.

Deso site manager Gordon Radford said: “It is a significant development for Deso, bringing its operation up to 24 hours a day, five days a week.

“This is a testament to the increasing demand for both existing Deso products and new lines.

“There has been a positive response to the recruitment and the firm is always looking out for new talent to join a growing business.

“Our company continually pushes the envelope, introducing advanced design elements which enhance usability, safety, and efficiency.

“We are excited by the opportunities that are coming our way.”
